Scenes From a Group Occupational-Therapy Activity Led by an occupational therapist
Activity: Making Colourful Watermelon-Shaped Hand Fans
The activity gave service users an opportunity to practise fine motor skills,
use their arms and hands in a purposeful task,
and engage attention, thinking, and creativity throughout the activity.
It also provided opportunities to practise recall and cognitive engagement; individual responses and outcomes may vary.
Occupational therapy is a health profession that supports people whose physical, psychological, cognitive, or developmental conditions affect participation in everyday life. Occupational therapists assess individual needs and use meaningful activities, environmental adaptations, suitable equipment, and skill training to help each person participate as safely and independently as possible in the activities that matter to them.
