participated in the seminar Mega Trends for SMEs 2024 at the College of Management, Mahidol University.
 
“Healthcare business” is another major trend worth watching and one of the prominent business sectors of the era, particularly as Thailand moves towards an ageing society and preventive healthcare gains popularity. During the seminar, Mr Thongchai Chokthanomsap, President of the Trade Association forElderlyand Wellness Businesses for Sustainable Well-Being, discussed how recent technological advances were affecting the operations of small and medium-sized healthcare facilities in 2024, the new business or service models that public-health SMEs should consider in the near future, and changes in the labour landscape for SMEs connected with the healthcare sector.

The College of Management, Mahidol University, together with the Federation of Thai SMEs, organised the seminar “Mega Trends for SME 2024: Adapting to the Digital and Sustainability Era” for master’s students at the College of Management, Mahidol University. The event aimed to prepare students to become modern entrepreneurs, grow alongside technology, keep pace with global sustainability megatrends, expand their markets, and understand prominent sectors such as digital markets, pet-related businesses, and healthcare. It was held on 27 July 2024 from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the third floor of the College of Management, Mahidol University, Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.
 
 In 2024, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Thailand were facing major changes. The source states that there were four key trends, although five were listed:
        1. Widespread adoption of AI and IoT technologies. Many SMEs were investing in
           automation and data analytics to improve production and service efficiency.
        2. A stronger focus on sustainability. Consumers were placing greater importance on environmentally friendly products and services,
           increasinglyrequiring SMEs to align their strategies with circular-economy principles.
        3. Expansion of online markets. E-commerce and social-commerce platforms continued to growsteadily, requiring SMEs to strengthen their online sales channels.
        4. Workforce skill development. Training employees in digital skills and specialised expertise
           became essential for SME competitiveness.
        5. Collaboration and networking. Many SMEs were forming business partnerships to share
           resources and expertise.
 
To support sustainable national economic development, the Federation of Thai SMEs, which plays a central role in developing SMEs across multiple dimensions, organised “Mega Trends for SME 2024: Adapting to the Digital and Sustainability Era” together with the College of Management, Mahidol University. The event aimed to prepare students to become modern entrepreneurs, grow alongside technology, and keep pace with global sustainability megatrends.
